NEW KAYAK, St. Pete, Downtown Tampa, Bulls n Bucs

Getting back from KC, I cam home to a brand new Kayak(Olde Town Dirigo 12o), purchased with some of my numerous Marriott points from travels over the years. A buddy of mine and I took them out to Picnic Island for a nice peaceful kayak venture, lots of great wildlife to see Thursday evening, the tide was high enough to go through a few Mangrove trails near the Air Force base.

Friday, a few of us ventured out to St. Pete for First Friday's Get Downtown live music series. Prior to the event we went to Zapata's for Mexican, just across the street from BayWalk in downtown St. Pete. It is a Mexican place and Tequila Bar with over 50 varieties of Tequila, for entertainment they had a Marimba player playing some tunes with pre-recorded keyboard music in the background(a bit cheesy)...the Happy Hour was 2 for 1 weal Margarita's and decent Sangria...we ordered Chicken Fajitas and Enchiladas, which were OK, but nothing to write home about...at 7pm, the large restaurant was nearly empty still after being there over an hour, they do have some outdoor seating available.
Walking towards Central Ave for the event, the downtown was bustling with all kinds, the crowd at the event seemed a bit rougher than usual, but as we went into some of the establishments along the event(Oyster Bar, Lobby, Garden, Taste of Wine), the crowd was a bit more normal and inviting. After the event, we walked around the corner to Bishop Tavern, packed, this place had a DJ this evening, and both the upstairs and downstairs and each separate room was busy...we then walked a block over to PUSH where afer a $10 cover for guys, we walked upstairs to some great music, and a cool crowd, and were able to take in some nice sights from the very large rooftop deck area...before leaving St. Pete for the night, we had some late night slices of Pizza back on Central Ave at Fortunato's.

Saturday, went over to First Watch downtown for some good eats for breakfast, and walked over to Historic Tampa theater after getting an Iced Green Tea at Indigo, just in time for a Theater Tour...afterwards it was a cool drink at The Hubb next door....then I headed to Madres in South County of Hillsborough for a some steaks and watching USF-UCF match up game with family.

Sunday was one of my good friends birthday, so quite a few of us were up at Bar Louie's in International Plaza...celebrating her birthday, seeing old friends and meeting new one's , and enjoying the Bucs game...sliders were great, the atmosphere was perfect for watching any Football games...after the game a walk over to Champps on the other side of BayStreet was no match for the great crowd that gathered at Bar Louie...we ended Sunday eve at the Green Iguana Westshore with the last of the good friends and the birthday girl.

Work takes me to Greenville, SC for the week, be back Friday.
